ABOUT KRISTIINA WILSON.
CAT BEHAVIORIST
Kristiina Wilson, MA, CCBC, is a feline behavior consultant, researcher, educator, and science communicator specializing in the emotional wellbeing and behavior of domestic cats.
She is the founder of Cattitude Adjustment, where she has conducted more than 500 feline behavior consultations for clients around the world involving issues such as inter-cat aggression, litter box problems, fear and anxiety-related behavior, enrichment, social conflict, and multi-cat household dynamics. Her work is rooted in welfare-centered, evidence-based behavior support that prioritizes emotional safety, environmental understanding, and strengthening the relationship between cats and their humans.
She completed her Masters Thesis work in Hunter College’s Animal Behavior and Conservation department. Kristiina’s thesis looked at the effect of fluorescent light on the stress behavior of shelter animals, with the partnership of NYCACC, and her research work in general draws from her former work as a photographer. She regularly collaborates with veterinarians, veterinary professionals, rescues, and shelters on complex feline behavior and welfare cases.
Before working professionally in feline behavior, Kristiina spent many years involved in rescue, fostering, rehabilitation, TNR, and community cat advocacy. She has personally participated in the rescue, fostering, rehabilitation, and placement of more than 400 cats and kittens, experiences that continue to deeply inform her understanding of feline emotional health, stress, and environmental needs.
Her approach combines scientific literacy, clinical experience, and deep empathy for both cats and the people who love them. She is especially passionate about helping guardians navigate challenging behavior issues without shame, punishment, or blame — and believes that understanding behavior through the lens of emotional wellbeing and welfare leads to better outcomes for everyone involved. She also hosts a cat behavior podcast called Hiss & Tell, and you can find her advice as a consulting behaviorist on Rover, A-Z Animals, Kinship Pets and many more!
